- Kindergarten through fifth grade students visit the media center once a week. Media classes are allotted 45 minutes per week.
- Lessons are based on the Maryland Learning Outcomes for Library Media Skills.
- Students are introduced to different literature and allowed time to browse and checkout books.
- Kindergarten and first grade may checkout 1 book per week.

- Students are allowed to choose their own books, although they are encouraged to use the five finger good fit book test.
- Kindergarten starts the year checking out paperback everybody books and works towards checking out hardback everybody books.
- 1st grade starts with the everybody books and nonfiction and works towards beginning chapter books.
- 2nd grade starts with the beginning chapter books, nonfiction, and everybody books and works toward the full library.
- 3rd through 5th grade students are allowed to choose books from any part of the library that they wish.
- All books should be returned or renewed the following week.
- Overdue notices are distributed on a regular basis.
